🧵 Why I don't participate in fast fashion
I've hardly bought any new clothes for years. Not because I'm making a big deal out of it, but because it just feels better. Second-hand shopping is calmer, more conscious, and much more about feeling. You choose what you really like, without being influenced by what happens to be in the shops.
It doesn't have to be new to be good.
Sometimes I find something that's just right. The color, the fit, the material. And then I think: why would I want to buy something new for this? Second-hand clothes are often of better quality than what you find in many stores. And you can immediately see if it has been well-maintained.
You look at clothing differently.
When you get used to secondhand clothing, you automatically become more critical. I don't just look at the brand, but at how something fits, whether it's neat, and whether it can last a long time. As a result, I buy less, but I do wear everything I have.
That gives me peace of mind. In my closet and in my head.
The story behind clothing
For me, clothes don't have to be new, but they do have to be good. When something drapes beautifully and is well-made, you can see that immediately. That makes it more valuable to me than something that just came from a store.
That's how I started with Debberies.
Slowly, the idea emerged to do something with this. Select clothing, bring it in, sell it – but in a way that is clear and feels good. No clutter, no fast trade. But beautiful items, carefully selected and passed on with care.
